Abstract: UCLASET is a longitudinal study that examines UCLA student culture phenomena in 1970, 1971, and 1972. There are 748 cases in the 1970 data; there are 1130 cases in 1971; 560 cases in 1972 data. About two thirds of the questions are common across years. For each year, questionnaires were administered in a dozen regularly scheduled classes at the University of California, Los Angeles. The classes were chosen to represent a balanced cross-section of undergraduates, including all levels (freshman to senior) and majors in humanities, social sciences, and physical and life sciences. The data are weighted in order that the sample represents the UCLA student body for each year of the survey. Topics in the study covered student attitudes and beliefs on political topics, including foreign and domestic policy and political philosophy. Students were asked about their use of recreational drugs, experience in protest politics, social and political nature of family background, and current social circumstances. |
