Description |
ABSTRACT: The purpose of the study was to obtain information on South African youth on a wide-range of areas. Becides the basic biographical data (racial group, sex, race, education, income, language, occupation, etc.), the study includes three main sections: A) Biographical infomration (household characteristics, radio/TV usage, sports and leisure activities, importance of work and other areas of life, cross-cultural contact, and politics/opinions (e.g. apartheid); B) Aspirations (in employment, housing, and views on society/expectations of the state); and C) Education (personal experience, South Africa, politics--political activities, opinions, the future, and alcohol/drugs use (friends]). The unit of observation is individual youth. Funding was by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC).
