Description The purpose of this project was to provide the Veterans Administration with accurate, scientifically-derived information. The proposed expansion of Veterans Administration health service into barrios and areas of high-concentration Hispanic populations in Los Angeles required that the VA gather information about the exact health needs and desires, health problems and health behavior of Spanish-surnamed veterans as well as services they currently used. The study covers veteran's knowledge of, attitudes towards and utilization of Veterans Administration health services. Respondents were selected by random from those who had used VA facilities since January 1978, to represent the total population of veterans living in Los Angeles county who use VA facilities. There are two sets of data for this study: a user sample covering those who have used VA facilities, and a community sample of all veterans. N=1088 veterans.
