Description |
This study is a survey of low income households within the medium and high density areas of Nairobi, Kenya (randomly selected within these areas). The data was initially conducted by the Institute for Development Studies of the University of Nairobi. Harland Padfield and Richard East later tabulated the data under the supervision of W. Ed Whitehall, drawing conclusions about occupational and financial norms in these neighborhoods. Finally, Donald Treiman, a professor of Sociology at UCLA coded the data with his occupational prestige scoring system.
