Description This study is a 4 wave panel conducted between 1977 and 1979. The baseline interview was conducted in January of 1977 and has 1749 cases. Wave 2 is called the Wave 1 Re-interview and was conducted in July of 1977; there are 426 cases. The third wave was conducted in January of 1979 and is called Small Quake Interview; there are 519 cases. Finally, wave IV was conducted in May of 1979 and has 349 cases. Topics in the survey include: R's rating of hazards in southern California, experiences with natural disasters, damage to home or persons in recent earthquakes, expectations of future quakes and intensity, how to prepare for earthquakes, why earthquakes occur, predicting earthquakes, government actions for earthquake preparation, sources of information about earthquakes, discussions about earthquakes or other natural disasters with friends, family and co-workers, and basic demographic details.
