Description The Southern California Social Surveys continued the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area Surveys [LAMAS], conducted between 1970 and 1976. The 1984 SCSS focuses on how people feel about life and living in southern California. Topics include culture consumption and leisure time, 1984 summer Olympics, education and public schools, health status, smoking and alcohol habits, home ownership, attitudes about neighborhood, attitudes toward ethnic groups, discrimination, most important problems, financial well-being, consumer plans, women's rights, registered to vote, political party identification, liberal/conservative scale, political participation, travel time to work, method of transportation, job choice, educational attainment, union membership, basic demographics. This study is provided 'as is' and questions may be directed to the Data Archive.
