Description From the codebook: "The Hong Kong 1971 Population and Housing Census was a de facto count. Thus, all persons who were in Hong Kong at the census moment were enumerated. The operation was conducted by specially trained enumerators using the two-visit method and was preceded by three pilot or trial censuses, two land and one marine. The sample records were selected on an every hundredth household basis and excluded marine data. There were twenty-one questions pertaining to personal data and nine concerning household data. The questions were designed to obtian informaiton on four major groups of population characteristics and the inter-relation. These groups were housing, demographic, economic, and transport."
