Description |
The dataset contains PIP data aggregated to the country-year level with ready-made models of government positions for macro-comparative political analyses. It uses a standard classification of countries (prime minister model, minister model, collegiate model) and data on several ministers (social affairs, housing, health, labor, economy, industry, finance, foreign affairs, environment, and agriculture) (Jahn 2022a; see also: Jahn 2018: 61-71). Concerning their ideological preferences, we employ the left-right index (LR) developed by Jahn (2011; 2022b) -- except for environmental ministers, for whom we use an environmental dimension (GG) (Jahn 2018: 43-49). All variables in the dataset have (a) a categorical coding of ministers, (b) a unique coding of individual ministers, once for national agenda-setters and veto players and once for the ideological center of gravity of the European Union (including Council, Commission, Council of Ministers and European Parliament). |
