Description |
Stored below are data of the structure, conduct and performance of US banks from 1990 to 2021, geographically disaggregated at the level of individual counties, constructed for the paper "The Geography of Banks in the United States (1990-2020)", available at https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/mrcbg/publications/awp/awp177. The data (20 indicators for some 3,150 counties over 32 years, for a total of about 2 million data points) conveys a detailed picture of how the geography of US banking has evolved over that period. The methodology used to construct the data is explained in the aforementioned paper.
