Description |
The Presidential Proclamations Project at the University of Houston is a collaboration between Professors Brandon Rottinghaus and Jeremy Bailey (University of Oklahoma), merging their interests in presidential power and the plebisary presidency. This is the most complete record of presidential proclamations (11,000+) known to exist and hosts a universe of proclamations from President George Washington to President Barack Obama. File contains hundreds of difficult to find historical proclamations. This project is partially funded by the National Science Foundation (SES Award # 1237627). Here you will find a database of proclamations (and related directives) and information on the function of proclamations. |

This will particularly aid in research activities and teaching-related activities. For example, we have secured hundreds of difficult to locate proclamations on federal land use from the National Parks Service which we plan to include on the website – something no other government agency (including the National Parks Service) has publicly available.
