Description |
Dataset on respect for civil liberties. It covers all independent countries 1975 until today and includes five indicators: Freedom of opinion and expression; Freedom of assembly and association; Freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; Freedom of movement and residence; and Fair trial. Hand-coded based on the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. Especially the fair trial indicator is also based on other country-specific sources. All indicators range from 1 (lowest respect) to 4 (highest respect). For detalied description, see codebook and Skaaning, Svend-Erik (2008).
