Description Global Populism Database v2 measures the level of populist discourse in the speeches of 241 chief executives (presidents and prime ministers) from 74 countries across all continents. The dataset covers 324 government terms and includes 1,240 speeches, mostly between 2000 and 2022. Each speech is coded manually by one or two coders using the "holistic grading" (Hawkins 2009) technique.

The v2 files extend the original database from 2019 and should be used. The 2019 files are maintained here for transparency and record-keeping.
