Description The purpose of this survey study was to 1. understand the perspectives of internal medicine (IM) clerkship and sub-internship directors (as student advisors) about the 2020-21 residency application cycle when interviews were conducted virtually; 2. identify perceptions of how student advising might have changed; and 3. gather data essential for providing medical schools and residency programs with recommendations about the virtual application process. The survey population consisted of internal medicine core clerkship or sub-internship director whose institution was a member of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM) of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) as of the study period. Co-/associate/assistant clerkship directors were included. The survey was fielded online from March 23, 2021 through May 10, 2021. This dataverse includes all corresponding survey summary results, methods, and fielding history; the survey instrument; the de-identified survey dataset in multiple file formats; the dataset codebook; and a syntax file for reproducing the summary and secondary analyses (for Stata software users).
