Description

This dataset represents a group of paper records (a "series") within the Harvard School of Public Health Longitudinal Studies of Child Health and Development records, 1918-2015 (inclusive), 1930-1989 (bulk), which can be accessed on-site at the Center for the History of Medicine at the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. The series consists of magnetic computer tapes and a compact disc, containing research data generated during multiple studies of the Harvard School of Public Health Longitudinal Studies of Child Health and Development.

The compact disc was migrated from an unidentified magnetic computer tape prior to donation to the Center. CD files consist of coded and analyzed research data and file inventories. Data is unlabeled, but the disc is accompanied by related codebooks that correspond to many of the files. Data was collected during multiple studies, and is related to a variety of topics, including anthropometric measurements, somatotypes, blood pressure, illness and allergies, surgeries, diet and nutrition, gynecology, skeletal age, and various other topics. CD files also include evaluation subroutines for percentile growth charts and information concerning the data migration from the magnetic computer tape. Computer tapes likely contain coded and analyzed data, generated during unidentified studies on unknown topics. Series also includes printed codebooks, coded data, and unidentified computer program data.
