Description |
Of the three methods studied, the Modified Cold Percolation Method was found to be the most efficient one for oleoresin estimation chiefly due to consistent results. This wasfollowed by Soxhleting. The least efficient was (conventional) Cold' Percolation Method. Inspite of the use ofa very efficient solvent (ethyl elcohol), the conventional method gave a poor oleoresin yield due to the inefficient extraction procedures. The piperine content in the olcoresin of Modified Cold Percolation was very must higher compared to other two methods. This could be due to the complete extraction and also the prevention of the lossess of this alkaloid from light during the process of extraction and estimation
