Description A total of seven birds were used to study the morphology and morphometry of the stomach of Japanese quail. The birds were weighed and dissected to record the morphological and morphometrical parameters. The stomach of Japanese quail consisted of two parts, the proventriculus and gizzard, which were connected by a narrow isthmus. The proventriculus was true stomach, fusiform in shape joined with muscular stomach, called gizzard. The proventriculus was placed just behind the tracheal bifurcation slightly towards the left of the median plane with its long axis directed backward, outward and downward while the gizzard was placed partly between lobes of liver and partly behind left lobe of liver slightly to left of midline in abdominal cavity. The openings of proventriculus and duodenum was in the cranio-dorsal blind sac of gizzard. Morphomterical parameters showed that the gizzard was larger and heavier as compared to proventriculus.
