Description The ICARDA contribution to the Nature positive solutions initiative focuses on support to three Community Seed Banks (CSB) established by the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT in the Kisumu County of Kenya. The CSBs are engaged in multiplication of farmer preferred crop cultivars of the traditional leafy vegetables and the staple food crops such as Maize, Sorghum, Millet etc. Under the N+ initiative, three CSBs were provided with drying, threshing, cleaning, and airtight glass jars for safe seed storage, each.

In 2023, the process of maintaining the integrity of the farmers' preferred crop cultivars to produce source seed stocks for further multiplication by the farmers has been initiated for 64 cultivars from 10 crops. Moreover, description of the 64 crop cultivars with the aim of producing a catalogue of the farmer preferred crop cultivars has also been initiated at field level.

These activities established a solid foundation to build on in 2024.
