Description |
The information available on various insect pests infesting ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) and turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) in India has been reviewed. Forty six species of insects have been reported to infest these crops in the field and in storage. Details of nature of damage, life history, natural enemies, alternate hosts, varietal reaction and control of shoot borer (Conogethes (Dichocrocis) punctiferalis Guen.), leaf roller (Udaspes foIus Cram.) and rhizome scale (Aspidiella hartii Ckll.) which are major pests have been included.
