Description The primary source for the SSEP dataset, known as the Integrated Geostationary Solar Energetic Particle Catalog (GSEP) , exclusively utilizes GOES data. In particular, the GOES-SEM EPS and EPEAD instruments measure energetic particles in the megaelectron volt range. These instruments have seven proton channels (P1 – P7) and cover energy levels from 1 MeV to 100 MeV, providing comprehensive data. The SSEP dataset focuses on the time to detection of solar energetic particles and uses data from GOES 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 15. It is categorized into four energy thresholds for event detection, with a specific emphasis on solar flare identification rather than coronal mass ejection detection. The GSEP list is consistently being updated and this study focuses the original 341 SEP events from 2022.

Headers:

  • time (m): time to detection of SEP after parent solar flare peak in minutes

  • event 10 (0 - no, 1 - yes): SEP event was detected at 10 MeV threshold

  • event 30 (0 - no, 1 - yes): SEP event was detected at 30 MeV threshold

  • event 60 (0 - no, 1 - yes): SEP event was detected at 60 MeV threshold

  • event 100 (0 - no, 1 - yes): SEP event was detected at 100 MeV threshold

  • fl_lon: the longitudinal coordinate of the parent solar flare

  • fl_lat: the latitudinal coordinate of the parent solar flare

  • fl_goes_class (C, M, X): the class of the parent solar flare
