Description The purpose of this TRaC survey among sex workers (SW) and sex workers who inject drugs (SW-IDU) was to provide evidence to guide programming and for monitoring and implementation of PSI/Vietnam's Comprehensive HIV Prevention Program. This survey among female sex workers1 aimed to: 1) identify and describe segments of the population in terms of condom use with male clients and non-commercial partners, VCT use, and drug use; 2) identify behavioral determinants of the aforementioned behaviors; 3) provide baseline data for project logframe indicators; and 4) apply study findings to design interventions aimed at reducing the risk of HIV transmission among SWs and prevention of initiation into injection drug use. This study is based on data collected in Vietnam in 2008. The study population was SWs in six provinces (Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, HCMC, Can Tho, and An Giang) and SWIDUs 2 in two provinces (Hai Phong and Can Tho) aged 18-35 years old. A screening questionnaire and main questionnaire served as survey tools. The questionnaire collected information on background characteristics, behavior related to condom use, voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) uptake, drug use, and behavioral determinants relating to opportunity, ability, and motivation. The data gathered through the 2008 TRaC survey is presented in the PSI Dashboard. The Dashboard is a set of standardized tables for segmenting populations, and monitoring trends on key population and service delivery indicators.
