Description |
Global climate change has tremendously affected resource poor small and marginal farmers in developing countries resulting in agricultural stress. Prices of black pepper in the global and domestic markets fluctuates greatly and predictions do not often succeed. Intercropping is one of the options that protects the farmers from vagaries of weather, pest and diseases/market fluctuation. With little scope to further expand the land area under black pepper as well as lower per capita holding size (0.132ha)in Kerala, crop intensification and diversification are the available options to promote the agrarian economy. |
