Health Data Interactive produces a series of tables on national health statistics. Tables are customizable, and users can download tables, charts and reports. Health topics include, and are not limited to: hospital discharges, mental health, disabilities, diabetes and childbirth. Background Health Data Interactive is a part of the National Center for Health Statistics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From this website, users can get information on a variety of health topics and trends in the United States. Topics are organized under the following categories: health and functional status; health care use and expenditures; health conditions; health insurance and access; mortality and life expectancy; pregnancy and birth; risk factors anddisease prevention. User Functionality Users can choose to download the data files or view the results in chart, table or graph form. Since users can control the which variables are included and how they are presented, they have a wide variety of customization options; directions for how to work with the tables are provided. Users can view data by age, race/ethnicity, gender and/ or geographic region.Data Notes Fourteen different data sources are used and areclearly identified for each table. There are links to each source from the website. The tables are updated frequently, but the site does not specify when. The most recent data is from 2009. |
