Background

The World Health Organization (WHO) oversees the health agenda of the United Nations. The WHO provides leadership on global health issues; establishes the public health research agenda by catalyzing the generation, translation and diffusion of public health knowledge; establishes and monitors the implementation of health standards; presents ethical and evidence-based policy options; provides technical support to countries; and monitors and assesses health trends. The WH
O website provides country demographic and initiative information. Topics include: mortality, burden of disease, health service coverage, risk factors and health systems within each country.

User Functionality

Users can access country demographic information and cooperation strategies for each country that lists health and development opportunities and challenges, development assistance priorities and initiatives, the WHO strategic agenda, and the plan for implementing the strategic agenda for the next four years for each country.
