The vagaries of climate change and the associated production limiting abiotic stresses is a hard truth which the humanity has to face in near future. Drought, salinity, flood, nutrient imbalances and extremes temperature are among the major environmental constraints to crop productivity worldwide. The increasing climatic variability and associated stresses are likely to aggravate the problem of future food security and may lead to highly fragile agri-production systems.
