Description |
ICPH8, the first commercial Cajanus cajan hybrid, derives from a cross between the genetic male-sterile line ms Prabhat (DT) and the male-fertile inbred line ICPL161. The plants are vigorous and mature early (115-135 days), thus escaping Fusarium wilt and pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus. In trials in central India in 1984-89 it outyielded UPAS120 by 41%, averaging 1.78 t/ha.
