Description Cricoid of goat was signet ring shaped cartilage made up of hyaline cartilage. Muscular process on the caudal end of the dorsal lamina was well developed. The caudal extremity of muscular process was at the level of second tracheal ring. Average mean length, breadth and height of cricoid cartilage was 30.56 ± 1.79 mm, 19.76 ± 1.39 and 25.56 ± 1.28 mm respectively. Arytenoid cartilage was paired, medial most cartilage located on the medial aspect of thyroid and cricoid cartilages of larynx. It was pyramidal in shape with corniculate vocal and muscular processes. The corniculate process was curved like a horn and measured 24.65 ± 1.06 mm in length. Cricoid cartilage was lined by pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with goblet cells while arytenoid was lined by non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium and pseudostratified columnar epithelium with zone of epithelial transition. Taste buds were observed in the corniculate process. Lamina propria consisted of venous caverns which were plenty in cricoid cartilage. Laryngeal glands were sparse in cricoid cartilage compared to arytenoid cartilage. Laryngeal associated lymphatic aggregations (LALT) were observed in cricoid cartilages and corniculate process, but were not noticed in the arytenoid and vocal process. Epithelium over the lymphoid follicle was modified to lympho-epithelium called Follicle Associated Epithelium (FAE). The laryngeal glands showed positive to PAS and PAS AB.
