Description A research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirmed that diets richer in plants are healthier, as well as having a lower environmental footprint. The case for plant-focused diets as an approach to help relieve poor health and environmental decline and the onus comes on agricultural production. To build a more resilient food future, the researchers insist to engage and grapple with emerging ideas like use of artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and other disruptive technologies. Agricultural Artificial Intelligence is a burgeoning topic in wake of climate change effects and it is immature to believe blindly on artificial intelligence, as agricultural knowledge often sources from indigenous communities and women. To make artificial intelligence more accessible to a smallholder farmer, cost-free and barrier-free access is essential and it should ensure comprehensive benefits of artificial intelligence despite cultural norms and gender roles that have widened access barriers. Similar is the case for nano technology, like the challenge of producing biodegradable nano particles out of agricultural waste. Studies also showed that with optimized refrigeration across South and Southeast Asia alone can save 83 billion kilograms of fruits and vegetables, 53 billion kilograms of cereals, and 48 billion kg of dairy products, cutting food loss and waste overall by a striking 45%. As such technologies can now play its part at all fronts in food system.
