Description An experiment was conducted during 2015 to 2020 at AICRP on Agroforestry research farm of Dr. BSKKV, Dapoli, to know the feasibility of Melia dubia based medicinal agroforestry system and its cultivation in Konkan region of Maharashtra for doubling the farmer’s income. The 5 years experimentation data revealed that, the average height of Melia dubia (13.38 m) and CAI at height 0.45 m were observed, while DBH of Melia dubia (20.54 cm) and CAI of DBH (1.51 cm). The performance of growth and development of Melia dubia under Konkan condition after four year evaluation is satisfactory and very fast growing multipurpose tree. Significantly highest root weight (591.80g) per plant, branches weight (1840g) per plant, stem weight (2175.60g) per plant and leaves weight (218.00 g) per plant were observed by Clerodendrum phlomidis than other. The modulus of rupture (240.875 N mm-2) and modulus of elasticity (990.268 N mm-2) of 5 years old Melia dubia was observed and reflected that, it has good potential for producing packaging box and other multipurpose use. Melia dubia + Clerodendrum phlomidis agroforestry system showed the maximum total gross returns (Rs. 516190 ha–1), net returns (Rs. 378490 ha-1) and B: C ratio (6.02) than other medicinal agroforestry systems. Thus, adoption of Melia dubia based suitable medicinal intercrops agroforestry system is a better option for the farmers to achieve sustainable production and doubling farmer's income in future.
