Description The effects of climate change on water quality are still being investigated, in addition to how it may affect hydrological behaviour and water availability. The goal of this study is to offer a synthesis of the most recent multidisciplinary literature that has been published on the subject. The two key topics have been discussed in detail after a brief introduction to the main elements that explain how climate change affects water quality. The effects of changing parameter values (physico-chemical parameters, micropollutants, and biological parameters) on water quality of resources (rivers and lakes) are first taken into consideration. The projected effects on the production of drinking water and the quality of the supplied water are then discussed. The main inference that can be made is that as water quality declines in the context of climate change, there are more situations where potential negative health effects are present.
