Description |
Gamma radiation proves pivotal in gladiolus cultivation by inducing mutations, fostering genetic diversity, and bolstering adaptability. A field experiment conducted during the year 2022-2023 at K.N.K. College of Horticulture, Mandsaur India, assessed gamma irradiation’s impact on four gladiolus varieties (Arka Aayush, Arka Pratham, Arka Kesar, and Arka Tilak) and five doses (0.0 kr, 1.25 kr, 2.25 kr, 3.25 kr, 4.25 kr). Interactive effects of irradiation and varieties were significant, with Arka Kesar irradiated at 1.25 kr showing superior open florets per spike and open floret at a time. Arka Aayush irradiated at 2.25 kr resulted in a higher spike yield. The study underscores gamma irradiation’s potential in shaping gladiolus characteristics, revealing numerous mutations and distinct flowering patterns.
