Description A field experiment was conducted to study the seasonal incidence of gram pod borer on chickpea cv. ICCC 37 in Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India, during the 1998-99 post-rainy season using sex pheromone traps. The number of eggs laid per 20 plants were high (44.3) at 15 days after sowing (DAS) and gradually increased and reached the maximum (67.3) at 50 DAS. Egg laying was maximum at the second fortnight of December. The pest incidence started in the seedling stage (15 DAS). The larval population was lowest at 15 DAS (7.3 per 20 plants) then gradually increased until its first peak at 29 DAS (60.3), its second peak at 57 DAS (85.5), and its third peak at 85 DAS (74.3). The maximum moth emergence was observed during the second, third, and fourth week of January and in the first week of February, i.e. between 65 and 85 days of crop age with moth catches of 129.0, 493.4, 298.8, and 283.2 per trap per week, respectively.
