Description |
This cultivar of Pennisetum americanum is highly susceptible to Sclerospora graminicola throughout the Indian subcontinent, but showed resistance when inoculated with oospores from the Durgapura (Rajasthan) research station. A low percentage of infection developed in NHB-3 inoculated with sporangia of the Durgapura isolate. The cultivar showed high susceptibility to both oospores and sporangia from the ICRISAT centre. It appears that at Durgapura the pathogen population specific to NHB-3 has either died out or its pathogenicity has been drastically changed in the absence of the host.
