Description Studies were carried out during 2009–10 under four environments to evaluate phenotypic stability of 102 CMSbased pigeonpea hybrids and their parents for the yield and yield contributing traits. At each location, experiments were conducted in á-lattice design with two replications. Significant genotypicdifferenceswere observedforallthe charactersexcept seeds/pod and 100-seed weight, suggesting differential responses of genotypes to the environmental changes. The results showedthat parents ‘HPL24–63’, ‘ICP3963’,‘ICPA2043’, ‘PHULE T-00-4-11-6-2’ and ‘ICP 10934’ exhibited general stability for grain yield. The stability analysis further revealed that thehybrids ‘ICPA2043 ×ICPL20106’and‘ICPA2047 × ICPL 20106’ were stable for days to flower, days to maturity, pods/plant, pod weight/plant and yield/plant; while hybrids ‘ICPA2092×AKT9913’and‘ICPA2092× BSMR203’exhibited stability for grain yield/plant, plant height, pods/plant and pod weight/plant.Grainyieldinthe hybridswaspositivelyassociated with pods/plant, pod weight/plant and seeds/pod in all the four locations.
