Description |
In a field trial in the rainy season of 1994 at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, the effects were studied of transparent plastic mulch from pegging to harvest (50-113 d after sowing) or from pod filling to harvest (71-113 d after sowing) on groundnuts cv. TMV 2, AH 6179 and Comet. Applying mulch from 50-113 d after sowing increased the mature seed DW/plant by 24%, mainly due to an increased number of seeds/plant. Applying the mulch from 71-113 d after sowing slightly reduced seed yield, although the yield was not significantly different from the control.
