A survey was conducted with a sample of 34 households in Marepalle village in Ranga Reddy District, Andhra Pradesh, India, to assess farmers' attitudes to ICP 8863, a medium duration, wilt resistant pigeonpea cultivar. Since its introduction to the village in 1988, ICP 8863 has been quickly adopted and since 1992 it has been grown by all farmers in the village. Farmers' preferences for local white or ICP 8863 cultivars are indicated with respect to a range of characteristics (e.g. yield)
