Description |
The seasonal abundance of 4 groups of predatory arthropods (Anthocoridae, adult Coccinellidae, Neuroptera eggs and Araneae) on sorghum and pigeon pea was studied inAndhra Pradesh, India, in the rainy season of 1992. Anthocorids (dominated by Orius spp.) showed a clear seasonal peak in mid-September on both crops, with significantly higher numbers of sorghum. Coccinellids (dominated by Menochilus sexmaculatus [Cheilomenes sexmaculata]) peaked in early September on both crops, with significantly higher numbers on sorghum. Neuroptera eggs had a bimodal peak on sorghum, with highest numbers at the end of September, and very low abundance on pigeon pea. No clear peaks were observed for Araneae in either crop.
