Description |
The production of heat shock proteins (hsps) was compared in sorghum and pearl millet [P. americanum] genotypes differing in seedling establishment characteristics under heat stress. Two major hsps of apparent MW 65 and 62 kDa were seen in all the sorghum genotypes tested when the incubation temp. of 40-h-old seedlings was altered from 35 to 45°C for 2 h. Under identical conditions, pearl millet genotypes showed more hsps and the apparent MW of these ranged from 30 to 70 kDa. The hsp bands were more prominent in whole seedlings and roots than in plumules
