Description |
Plant quarantine legislation and procedures for prevention of spread of groundnut rust in germplasm exchange are discussed. Spread of rust in the eastern hemisphere is attributed to long-distance dispersal of urediniospores by winds. There should be little or no risk of rust disease being spread through exchange of germplasm, either as seed or as vegetative material, provided it is conducted through the proper plant quarantine channels.
