Description This chapter documents the benefits from pearl millet genetic enhancement research conducted by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in partnership with national agricultural research systems (NARS). ICRISAT-NARS research efforts and the resultant impacts are summarized, recognizing that many improved pearl millet cultivars and hybrids are the joint products of the partnership. An example of South-South research spillover, where research products developed at ICRISAT found applicability and adaptability across India and sub-Saharan Africa, is presented.
