Description Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum [P. americanum]) leaves bearing S. graminicola oospores were ground and soaked in water for 9 h, drained, and the oospores then suspended in sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) for 12 h in the dark. Spores were resuspended in water, and incubated for germination at 25°C. Although germination was observed after 1 h of NaOCl treatment, max. germination occurred after 12 h.
