Abstract/Description: Objectives Experiment-I (2009-2012): Field Screening sunflower genotype in P deficient black soils • Characterization of soils for differential P • To screen the genotypes for P uptake under stress situation • To work out P use efficiency for efficient genotypes • To study the mechanism for high P acquisition Experiment-II (2012-2016): Rapid screening sunflower genotypes for P acquisition in marginal soils. • Rapid screening sunflower genotypes for P acquisition up to 30 days • To study mechanisms if any for high P acquisition (root morphology, microbial association) b. Practical utility Phosphorus efficient sunflower genotype can be suitable marginal soils and savings on P inputs can be expected
