A new synthesis way of haptens for oxytetracycline (OTC) with
Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) was demonstrated. This hapten
conjugate (OTC-KLH) were used to successfully raise polyclonal
antibodies against OTC. Utilizing this antibodies a rapid, user friendly and
sensitive lateral flow assay (LFA) was designed to detect the OTC in milk
system. From this assay results could be accomplished within 5 min.
without the need of any equipment. The visual detection limit was 30
μg/kg. Proposed concept of OTC antibody production found to be a simple
and reliable method for LFA. Thus, the developed assay could be used in
the milk system to carry out onsite screening for OTC, from the beginning
of the food chain to improve commercial trade and to uphold the consumer
safety.
