V. parahaemolyticus isolates from fish and shrimp P. monodon were screened using PCR and 623 bp product could be visualized in positive cases. The selected isolates were further characterized using protein profile analysis on 11% SDS-PAGE and DNA restriction profile analysis. Variable protein bands on SDS-PAGE indicated antigenic variation among V. parahaemolyticus isolates. EcoRI, BamHI and Haelll were found unsuitable for DNA-RE analysis but Hind III digestion revealed numerous DNA fragments in the range of 15.0 kb to 0.5 kb with variation among isolates.
